This drought-tolerant annual or short-lived perennial brings a bold, architectural presence to meadow plantings, wildflower gardens, and xeriscapes, thriving in poor, rocky soils where many other plants struggle.

The showy white flowers with bright yellow centers appear through summer, attracting bees and other pollinators. Its spiny leaves and stems add unusual texture to mixed borders and native plant collections. Grow it in full sun for best flowering, and allow spent blooms to self-sow for a naturalizing effect in wilder areas of the landscape. Handle with care due to the prickly foliage.
Species: Argemone polyanthemos
Type: Annual or short-lived perennial wildflower
Plant Habit: Upright, branching
Sun: Full sun
Soil: Well-drained, sandy or rocky, poor to average fertility
Days to Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 4-9
Germination: 14-30 days at 65-75F
Sowing: Surface sow, light required for germination
Spacing: 12-18 inches
Notes: Drought tolerant once established; allow to self-sow

https://blakesflora.com/products/15-seeds-argemone-polyanthemos-prickly-poppy-native-wildflower-drought-tolerant
