Mix seeds with moist peat moss or sand and refrigerate for 6-8 weeks. Sow stratified seeds indoors in pots filled with a well-draining seed-starting mix, barely covering them with soil. Keep the medium consistently moist and maintain a temperature around 70°F. Germination can be slow and uneven, so be patient. Once seedlings have several true leaves, transplant them into larger pots and gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions before planting in their permanent location.

Choose a sunny site with well-drained soil for planting. Water young trees regularly during dry spells to help establish a deep root system. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, but keep mulch away from the trunk. Prune as needed to shape the tree and remove dead or crossing branches. Apple trees benefit from cross-pollination, so planting another apple variety nearby can improve fruit set. Note that trees grown from seed may not produce fruit identical to the parent, but they can still yield useful cider apples.

What's Included

25 Bedan apple seeds.
