After stratification, sow seeds about 1/2 inch deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix. Keep the soil consistently moist and maintain a temperature around 70°F (21°C). Germination can be slow and uneven, so be patient. Once seedlings have several sets of true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or a nursery bed. Provide full sun and regular watering as they establish.

Apple trees grown from seed will eventually need to be planted in their permanent location with adequate space for growth. Young trees benefit from staking and protection from strong winds. Prune to shape the tree and remove dead or crossing branches. Monitor for common pests and diseases, and apply appropriate care as needed. Note that trees grown from seed may take several years to produce fruit, and the fruit characteristics may vary from the parent tree.

What's Included

25 Sunset Apple Seeds (Malus domestica).
