You can sow them outdoors in fall in a prepared seedbed, or mix seeds with moist sand and refrigerate for 3-4 months before planting indoors. After stratification, sow seeds about 1/4 inch deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix. Keep the soil consistently moist and maintain a temperature around 70°F. Germination can be slow and irregular, often taking several weeks to months.

Once seedlings have developed a few sets of true leaves, transplant them into individual pots and grow them in a sheltered location until they are large enough to plant in the landscape. Choose a site with partial shade and well-drained, acidic soil. Water regularly during the first few years to help establish a deep root system. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture and suppress weeds, but keep mulch away from the trunk.

What's Included

This listing includes 5 Florida Dogwood seeds (Cornus florida).
