Honeoye Strawberry Plants are a popular June-bearing variety known for their vigorous growth and reliable fruit production. This early-midseason strawberry produces large, bright red berries with a sweet, classic strawberry flavor. Honeoye is a favorite among home gardeners for its cold hardiness and ability to perform well in a range of climates. These live bare root plants are ready to establish in your garden, raised beds, or containers, providing a productive harvest in the first season after planting.

With their compact growth habit and abundant runners, Honeoye strawberries make an excellent choice for edible landscaping, border plantings, or a dedicated strawberry patch. The plants arrive as dormant bare roots, which is an economical and effective way to start a strawberry bed. With proper care, they will quickly develop into healthy, fruit-bearing plants.

Planting & Care

Plant bare root strawberries as soon as possible after arrival. Soak the roots in water for 30-60 minutes before planting. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to spread the roots, and set the plant so the crown (where roots meet stems) is at soil level. Space plants 12-18 inches apart in rows 3-4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged until new growth appears.

Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring and again after harvest. Mulch around plants to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Remove runners to encourage larger berries, or allow them to root for new plants. In colder zones, provide winter protection with straw mulch. Harvest berries when fully red and ripe.
