Planting & Care

Sow zinnia seeds after the last frost date, when soil has warmed. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface and keep evenly moist until germination. Thin or transplant seedlings so plants have room to grow and receive good airflow.

Grow in full sun with well-drained soil. Water at the base to help keep foliage dry, and deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Zinnias are sensitive to cold, so plant outdoors only once nighttime temperatures are consistently warm.
