Planting & Care
Sow State Fair Zinnia seeds directly in the garden after the danger of frost has passed. Choose a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep and keep the soil evenly moist until germination, which typically occurs in 7-14 days. Once seedlings are a few inches tall, thin them to the recommended spacing to allow good air circulation.
Water regularly, especially during dry spells, but avoid overhead watering to prevent disease. Mulch around plants to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming. Zinnias are relatively low-maintenance and will reward you with a profusion of colorful blooms all season long.
