Planting & Care
Sow Cosmic Purple Carrot seeds directly in the garden 2-4 weeks before the last frost, or in late summer for a fall harvest. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep and keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10-20 days. Thin seedlings to 2-3 inches apart to allow proper root development. Carrots thrive in loose, stone-free soil to prevent forking.
Water regularly, providing about 1 inch of water per week. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Avoid over-fertilizing with nitrogen, as this can cause hairy roots. Harvest when roots are 6-8 inches long and about 1 inch in diameter. For best flavor, harvest before the ground freezes.
