Sow Freckles Romaine seeds directly in the garden as soon as the soil can be worked in spring, or start indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep and keep the soil evenly moist until germination. Thin seedlings to the recommended spacing to allow heads to develop properly. For a continuous harvest, succession sow every 2–3 weeks.

Provide consistent moisture and mulch to keep roots cool and prevent bolting in warm weather. Harvest outer leaves as needed or cut entire heads at the base when mature. In hot climates, provide afternoon shade to extend the growing season.
