Sow Cosmos Gloria seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date, or start them indoors 4–6 weeks before transplanting. Lightly press seeds into the soil surface and keep moist until germination, which typically occurs in 7–21 days at 70–75°F (21–24°C). Thin seedlings to stand 12–18 inches apart to encourage good air circulation.

Once established, Cosmos plants are relatively low-maintenance. Water regularly during dry spells, but avoid overwatering. Deadhead spent blooms to prolong flowering and promote a tidy appearance. Taller varieties may benefit from staking in windy areas.
