Planting & Care

Sow Daydream Cosmos seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost for earlier blooms. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep and keep the soil moist until germination, which typically occurs in 7-14 days. Once seedlings are a few inches tall, thin them to 12-18 inches apart to allow good air circulation. These plants prefer full sun and well-drained soil; avoid over-fertilizing, as rich soil can lead to excessive foliage and fewer flowers. Water regularly during dry spells, but allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering and to prevent self-seeding if desired.
