Planting & Care

Sow seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface without covering, as light aids germination. Maintain a warm, humid environment and keep the medium consistently moist but not soggy. Once seedlings have several true leaves, transplant them into individual pots and gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions after the danger of frost has passed.

In the garden, choose a spot with partial to full shade and rich, well-drained soil. Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during hot, dry spells. Pinch back growing tips to promote a fuller, bushier plant and remove any flower spikes to encourage continued foliage growth.
