25 Gravetye Geranium Seeds – Purple Zonal Pelargonium Garden Flower

Gravetye Geranium is a distinctive zonal pelargonium prized for its rich purple blooms and classic garden performance. This heirloom variety brings deep, saturated color to beds, borders, and containers, and its zonal foliage adds texture and interest even when the plant is not in flower. It is a favorite among gardeners who want a pelargonium that stands out from the usual reds and pinks.

Gravetye Geranium works well in mixed flower borders, patio pots, and window boxes, where its purple flowers contrast beautifully with lighter annuals and foliage plants. With reliable growth and a long bloom season, it is a rewarding choice for both beginner and experienced gardeners.

Planting & Care

Sow Gravetye Geranium seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last expected frost. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface and cover very thinly, as light aids germination. Keep the growing medium consistently moist but not waterlogged, and maintain a warm temperature around 70–75°F. Germination can be slow and uneven, so be patient and keep the area evenly humid.

Once seedlings have several true leaves, transplant them into individual pots and grow them on in bright light. Harden off young plants before moving them outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings, and remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming.
