Press seeds lightly into the soil; they need light to germinate. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged until seedlings emerge. Once seedlings have two sets of true leaves, thin or transplant them to their final spacing.

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer if growth appears weak. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming. Tall plants may benefit from staking in windy areas.
