Planting & Care

To grow apples from seed, cold stratify the seeds by keeping them moist and refrigerated for several weeks before sowing. Sow seeds in a well-drained seed-starting mix, keep them lightly moist, and provide warmth and bright light. Germination can be slow and variable, so patience is key.

Once seedlings develop, transplant them into larger containers or a sunny garden spot with well-drained soil. Water regularly during establishment and protect young trees from harsh conditions. Note that apples grown from seed may not match the parent tree exactly and can take several years to bear fruit.
