Planting & Care
Sow Red Pearl Sweet Pea seeds outdoors in early spring, after the last frost, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date. Soak seeds in water for 24 hours before planting to improve germination. Plant seeds about 1 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10-21 days.
Once seedlings emerge, provide a trellis or support for the vines to climb. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, and mulch to retain moisture. Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming. In colder zones, apply a layer of mulch in winter to protect the roots.
