Anubias Barteri Live Aquarium Plant – Low Light Freshwater Rhizome for Easy Aquascaping

Sale price  $42.00 Regular price $84.00

Anubias Barteri is a hardy, slow-growing aquatic plant prized by freshwater aquarium keepers for its thick, broad green leaves and undemanding nature. As a rhizome plant, it anchors readily to driftwood, rocks, and other aquarium decor, making it a versatile choice for both beginner and experienced aquascapers. Its compact, bushy growth provides excellent cover for fish and shrimp while adding a natural, lush look to any tank.

This low-light plant tolerates a wide range of water conditions and does not require CO2 injection or intense lighting to thrive. Whether used as a foreground accent, midground feature, or attached to hardscape, Anubias Barteri delivers long-lasting greenery with minimal maintenance.

  • Rhizome growth habit allows attachment to rocks and driftwood

Planting & Care

To plant Anubias Barteri, do not bury the rhizome in substrate, as this can cause rot. Instead, tie or glue the rhizome to driftwood, rocks, or aquarium decor using thread or aquarium-safe cyanoacrylate glue. The plant will gradually anchor itself over time. Place it in an area with low to moderate light; direct, intense light may encourage algae on the leaves.

Anubias Barteri is undemanding but benefits from regular water changes and occasional liquid fertilization. Trim older leaves as needed to maintain shape. It is not a heavy feeder and grows slowly, so patience is key. Avoid disturbing the rhizome once established.
