Planting & Care

Plant your rooted cuttings in a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant at the same depth as the container. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist during the first growing season to encourage deep root growth. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Once established, crape myrtles are relatively drought tolerant. Prune in late winter to early spring to shape the tree and promote vigorous growth and abundant blooms. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced fertilizer if needed. These plants are generally pest and disease resistant when grown in proper conditions.
