Planting & Care

Plant your Kadota Fig Tree in a location with full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and set the plant at the same depth it was growing in its nursery pot. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and apply a layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk. Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish a strong root system.

Once established, figs are relatively drought-tolerant but benefit from consistent moisture during fruit development. Prune in late winter to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches. In cooler zones, grow in a container and move indoors or provide winter protection.
