Planting & Care
Choose a planting site with full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Place the tree in the hole, backfill with native soil, and water thoroughly. Apply a layer of mulch around the base to conserve moisture and regulate soil temperature, keeping mulch away from the trunk.
Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish a deep root system. Once established, the Copper River Birch is relatively low-maintenance but benefits from supplemental watering during dry periods. Prune only as needed to remove dead or damaged branches, preferably in late winter or early spring.
