Water thoroughly after planting and apply a layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the trunk.

Water regularly during the first growing season to help the tree establish. Once established, water during dry periods. Prune lightly in late winter to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches. Monitor for common pests and diseases, and apply appropriate care as needed.
