New York Aster Seeds – 100 Symphyotrichum novi-belgii Heirloom Non-GMO Purple Pollinator Flower
New York Aster (Symphyotrichum novi-belgii) is a beloved heirloom perennial that brings late-season color to borders, wildflower meadows, and pollinator gardens. Its cheerful daisy-like blooms in shades of purple and violet open from late summer into fall, creating a valuable nectar source when many other flowers have finished. This non-GMO variety is a classic choice for cottage gardens, naturalized areas, and cut flower arrangements.
Growing as a clump-forming herbaceous perennial, New York Aster combines well with ornamental grasses, goldenrod, and coneflowers. The abundant flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, making it an excellent addition to wildlife-friendly landscapes.

Planting & Care
Sow New York Aster seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost, or direct sow outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface without covering deeply, as light aids germination. Keep the growing medium consistently moist but not waterlogged, and maintain a temperature around 65 to 70°F. Germination typically occurs in 14 to 21 days.
Once seedlings have several sets of true leaves, harden them off gradually before transplanting into the garden. Choose a sunny to partly shaded location with well-drained soil. Water regularly during the first growing season to help plants establish. In subsequent years, New York Aster is relatively low-maintenance; divide clumps every few years to maintain vigor and prevent overcrowding. Pinch back stems in early summer for a bushier plant with more blooms.
