Super Sioux Tomato is a beloved heirloom variety known for producing dependable crops of bright red, globe-shaped tomatoes even in hot, humid conditions. This heat-tolerant tomato has earned a loyal following among gardeners in warm climates who want a reliable slicing tomato that keeps setting fruit when other varieties slow down.

The medium-sized fruits typically weigh 6 to 8 ounces and offer a classic, well-balanced tomato flavor that works beautifully in sandwiches, salads, and fresh salsas. Super Sioux is an indeterminate tomato, meaning vines continue to grow and produce fruit throughout the season until frost. Whether you grow them in raised beds, garden rows, or large containers, these heirloom seeds give you a rewarding harvest of homegrown red tomatoes.

Planting & Care

Start Super Sioux tomato seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Sow seeds about 1/4 inch deep in a moist seed-starting mix and keep them warm, around 70 to 80°F, for reliable germination. Once seedlings have their first true leaves, transplant them into larger pots and provide bright light to encourage sturdy growth.

After the danger of frost has passed, harden off seedlings gradually and transplant them into the garden in full sun. Water deeply and regularly, aiming for about 1 to 2 inches per week, and mulch to conserve moisture and reduce soil splash. Stake or cage indeterminate vines to keep fruit off the ground. Feed lightly when plants begin setting fruit, and harvest tomatoes when they are fully colored and slightly soft to the touch.
