Teddy Bear Dwarf Sunflower is a compact, double-blooming sunflower prized for its fluffy, fully double golden-yellow flower heads that resemble soft pom-poms. Unlike towering classic sunflowers, this dwarf variety stays short and bushy, making it an excellent choice for borders, patio containers, cutting gardens, and small-space gardens. The cheerful blooms add bright color and a whimsical texture to summer beds and bouquets.

These Sungold Teddy Bear sunflowers are easy to grow from seed and reward gardeners with abundant, long-lasting blooms on sturdy, compact plants. Their manageable size makes them a favorite for children's gardens and front-of-border plantings, while the pollen-rich flowers attract pollinators throughout the season.

Planting & Care

Sow Teddy Bear sunflower seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date, or start them indoors a few weeks earlier in individual pots. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Keep the soil consistently moist during germination and thin or transplant seedlings so plants have room to develop their bushy form.

Once established, water regularly, especially during dry spells, and avoid overhead watering to help keep foliage healthy. These compact sunflowers generally need little staking. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering, and harvest stems when flowers are fully open for cut arrangements.
