This fast-growing lettuce is an excellent choice for succession planting, allowing you to enjoy a continuous harvest of fresh greens throughout the growing season.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gardener, Tom Thumb is easy to grow and performs well in beds, raised beds, and patio pots. Its small size makes it ideal for tight spaces, and the attractive rosette of light green leaves adds a lovely texture to the edible garden.

Planting & Care

Sow Tom Thumb lettuce seeds directly in the garden or start indoors for an early start. For direct sowing, plant seeds about 1/8 inch deep and keep the soil evenly moist until germination. Thin seedlings to 6-8 inches apart to allow heads to develop properly. Lettuce prefers cooler weather and can bolt in high heat; provide afternoon shade in warmer climates and water regularly to keep plants stress-free.

For a continuous supply, sow small batches every 2-3 weeks. Harvest heads when they feel firm and before they begin to bolt. You can also harvest outer leaves for a cut-and-come-again approach. With minimal care, Tom Thumb lettuce rewards you with a bountiful harvest of tender, sweet greens.
