Planting & Care

Sow White Cosmos seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date, or start indoors 4-6 weeks before transplanting. Press seeds lightly into the soil; they need light to germinate. Keep the soil consistently moist until seedlings emerge, which typically takes 7-21 days. Once established, cosmos thrive on neglect and prefer not to be overwatered or over-fertilized, as rich soil can lead to excessive foliage and fewer blooms.

Thin seedlings to stand 12-18 inches apart to allow good air circulation. Water regularly during dry spells, but let the soil dry out between waterings. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming. Tall varieties may benefit from staking in windy areas. White Cosmos is generally pest-free and deer-resistant, making it a hassle-free choice for any garden.
