10 Seeds Vitex agnus-castus Shoal Creek Chastetree Hardy Flowering Shrub Ornamental

Vitex agnus-castus, commonly known as Chastetree, is a vigorous deciduous shrub or small tree valued for its aromatic palmate foliage and long summer display of upright panicles filled with small violet-blue flowers. The Shoal Creek selection is particularly noted for its larger flower spikes and vigorous, rounded growth habit, making it a striking ornamental specimen for warm-climate gardens and landscapes.

This shrub works well as a summer-flowering accent, a backdrop in mixed borders, or a small lawn tree where its airy form casts light shade. The blossoms appear on new growth through the hottest part of the season and are attractive to a range of garden pollinators. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil, tolerates heat and drought once established, and can be pruned in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh flowering wood.
