Planting & Care

Sow zinnia seeds outdoors after the last frost date, when soil has warmed. Press seeds lightly into the soil and keep the area evenly moist until germination. Thin seedlings to the recommended spacing so plants have room to grow and air can circulate.

Water at the base of the plants to help keep foliage dry, and deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Zinnias perform best in full sun with well-drained soil and make excellent cut flowers when harvested in the morning.
