Honeoye Strawberry is a popular springbearing variety known for its reliable yields of bright red, flavorful berries. This June-bearing strawberry produces a concentrated harvest in early summer, making it a favorite for home gardens, raised beds, and edible landscapes. The plants form compact mounds of dark green foliage and white blossoms before fruiting.

Honeoye strawberries are well-suited for fresh eating, freezing, and preserving. With 20 bare roots, you can establish a productive strawberry patch or expand an existing berry garden. These plants are shipped as dormant bare roots, ready to be planted and grown into vigorous, fruit-bearing plants.

Planting & Care

Plant bare roots in early spring or fall when the soil is workable. Soak the roots in water for 30-60 minutes before planting. Dig a hole large enough to spread the roots, and set the plant so the crown (where roots meet stems) is at soil level. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly. Space plants 12-18 inches apart in rows 3-4 feet apart.

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, especially during flowering and fruiting. Mulch around plants to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Remove runners to encourage larger berries, or allow them to root for new plants. In colder zones, apply a layer of mulch in late fall to protect crowns from winter damage. Renovate beds after harvest by removing old foliage and thinning plants.
