Planting & Care

Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix and keep at 75-85°F for germination, which typically takes 10-14 days. Once seedlings have two sets of true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or harden them off for the garden after the danger of frost has passed.

Provide consistent moisture and full sun for best growth. Mulch around plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize lightly when plants begin to flower. Harvest peppers when they reach full size and are firm, either yellow or red depending on preference.
