Planting & Care

Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix, keeping soil moist but not waterlogged. Maintain a temperature of 70-80°F for germination, which typically occurs in 7-14 days. Once seedlings have two sets of true leaves, transplant them into larger pots and gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions before planting in the garden after the danger of frost has passed.

Provide support with stakes or cages as plants grow. Water regularly to keep soil evenly moist, and mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize lightly every few weeks. Harvest fruits when they are fully colored and slightly soft to the touch.
