5 Seeds Chamaerops humilis Silver European Fan Palm Hardy Ornamental Palm

Chamaerops humilis, commonly called the European fan palm, is a compact clumping palm prized for its stiff fan-shaped fronds and versatile, shrub-like form. Native to the western Mediterranean, it is one of the hardiest palms available and works well in containers, courtyards, and warm-climate landscapes. This silver-toned selection offers attractive blue-grey foliage that adds cool color and texture to plantings. A slow-growing, long-lived palm that develops a multi-stemmed clump over time and performs well both indoors and outdoors in suitable climates.
Use it as a specimen or accent plant, in patio containers, mixed borders, rock gardens, and Mediterranean-style plantings. The fan-shaped fronds provide year-round structure and the clumping habit makes it useful for hedges or mass plantings in mild regions. Seeds can be sown for propagation, and young plants adapt well to pot culture before being moved into permanent positions. Growth is steady but unhurried, rewarding patient growers with a durable, architectural palm.
