Planting & Care

Sow Beit Alpha cucumber seeds directly outdoors after the last frost date, when soil has warmed to at least 70°F (21°C). Plant seeds about 1 inch deep and 6 inches apart, thinning to 36-48 inches apart once seedlings are established. For earlier harvests, start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost in biodegradable pots to minimize root disturbance.

Cucumbers need consistent moisture, especially during flowering and fruiting. Water deeply and regularly, aiming for about 1 inch of water per week. Mulch to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Provide a trellis or support to keep vines off the ground, which helps reduce disease and makes harvesting easier. Harvest fruits when they reach 6-8 inches long for best flavor and to encourage continued production.
