Planting & Care

Sow Blanco Duro onion seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost, or direct sow outdoors in early spring once the soil can be worked. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep and keep the soil consistently moist until germination. Thin seedlings to 4-6 inches apart to allow room for bulb development.

Onions require consistent moisture during the growing season but should be watered less as bulbs mature to encourage proper curing. Stop watering when tops begin to yellow and fall over. Harvest bulbs when necks are dry and tops have browned, then cure in a warm, dry, well-ventilated area before storing.
