Dukat dill is a premium variety of Anethum graveolens prized for its lush, blue-green foliage and abundant seed production. This aromatic herb brings a fresh, tangy flavor to pickles, salads, sauces, and seafood dishes. In the garden, dill attracts beneficial insects like hoverflies and parasitic wasps, making it a valuable companion plant for vegetables and flowers. Its feathery leaves and umbrella-like yellow flower heads add airy texture to herb beds and borders.

Whether you are growing dill for its leaves, seeds, or both, Dukat is a reliable and productive choice. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, and it can be direct-sown in spring or fall. With 500 seeds, you have plenty for successive sowings and a steady supply of fresh dill throughout the season.

Planting & Care

Direct sow Dukat dill seeds outdoors after the last frost date, or in early fall in mild climates. Dill has a taproot and does not transplant well, so choose a permanent location. Scatter seeds thinly and cover lightly with soil, about 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10–14 days. Thin seedlings to stand 12–18 inches apart.

Water regularly during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging. Dill benefits from a light application of compost or balanced fertilizer at planting. To encourage leaf production, pinch off flower buds as they appear; to harvest seeds, allow some flower heads to mature and turn brown before collecting. Dill self-sows readily, so you may get volunteer plants in following seasons.
