Floradel Tomato is a heat-tolerant heirloom variety prized for producing smooth, bright red slicing tomatoes even when summer temperatures climb. The plants set fruit reliably in warm, humid conditions where many other tomato varieties slow down or drop blossoms, making Floradel a dependable choice for southern and hot-climate gardens.

The round, meaty tomatoes have a classic balanced tomato flavor that works well fresh in salads and sandwiches, and they also cook down nicely for sauces, canning, and preserving. Whether grown in raised beds, in-ground rows, or large containers, Floradel offers a productive harvest of attractive red fruit across the season.

Planting & Care

Start Floradel tomato seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Sow seeds about 1/4 inch deep in a moist seed-starting mix and keep them warm, around 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, until germination. Once seedlings emerge, provide bright light and keep the growing medium evenly moist but not soggy.

Harden off seedlings before transplanting them into the garden after the danger of frost has passed. Choose a sunny location with well-drained, fertile soil and water regularly to keep moisture consistent. Mulching around the base helps retain soil moisture and reduce weeds. Provide support such as stakes or cages as the plants grow, and feed lightly through the season to support healthy fruit production.
