Planting & Care

Sow Italian Giant Parsley seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, or direct sow outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. For best results, soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before planting to help soften the seed coat and improve germination. Plant seeds about 1/4 inch deep in moist, well-drained soil. Germination can be slow, often taking 2-4 weeks.

Once seedlings emerge, thin them to stand 8-12 inches apart. Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Mulch around plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Harvest outer stems first to encourage continued growth. Parsley can be harvested throughout the season and will often overwinter in mild climates, providing an early spring crop the following year.
