Planting & Care

Sow Munstead Lavender seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost. Cold stratify seeds by refrigerating in a moist medium for 2–4 weeks before sowing. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface; do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep soil moist but not waterlogged at 65–70°F. Germination can be slow and uneven, typically 14–28 days.

Once seedlings have several true leaves, transplant to individual pots and gradually acclimate to outdoor conditions. Choose a sunny location with excellent drainage. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry between waterings. Mulch with gravel or sand to protect the crown from moisture. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape.
