The Pomegranate Fruit Tree Seedling (Punica granatum) is a beautiful and productive addition to any home garden or patio. Known for its glossy green foliage, vibrant orange-red flowers, and delicious, antioxidant-rich fruit, this versatile plant offers both ornamental beauty and a rewarding harvest. Whether grown in the ground in warm climates or in a container in cooler regions, the pomegranate tree makes a stunning focal point and provides fresh fruit for years to come.

This live seedling is approximately 1 foot tall and arrives ready to plant. Pomegranates are long-lived, drought-tolerant once established, and can be trained as a small tree or large shrub. They thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, making them an excellent choice for edible landscaping, espalier, or container growing.

  • Produces showy, trumpet-shaped orange-red flowers in spring and summer
  • Yields round, red fruit with juicy, edible seeds in late summer to fall
  • Attractive glossy green leaves that turn yellow in autumn

  • Drought-tolerant once established and suitable for xeriscaping

Planting & Care

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and plant at the same depth as it was in the nursery pot. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first growing season to help the seedling establish. Once established, pomegranates are quite drought-tolerant but produce best with regular watering during flowering and fruiting. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring. Prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing branches and to shape the tree. In cooler zones, grow in a container and move indoors or to a protected area during winter.
